Homeowners' pick for appliance repair across the Ohio Valley
Dryer Vent Cleaning & Repair — Book a Visit Today
We clean and repair dryer vents, and that starts with pulling the dryer and scoping the whole duct. In older Louisville houses the dryer often sits mid-house, and the vent runs thirty feet through a crawlspace or up through a wall before it ever sees daylight. Lint collects along that run, the duct sags at the joints, and river-valley damp gets trapped in it. Then clothes stay wet, the drum runs hot, and the shutoff trips. We brush the duct end to end and check the exterior flap. Crushed transition hose gets replaced. Sections that came apart inside a wall get found and rejoined, and bird nests come out. We work on all major brands as an independent shop. Call us and tell us how long a load takes now.

The dryer vent cleaning & symptoms we hear most
- Two cycles to dry one load of towels Restricted airflow from lint packed along the duct run
- The laundry room feels like a sauna A disconnected or leaking duct dumping humid air indoors
- Burning smell when the dryer runs Lint packed near the heater or blower housing
- Outside flap never opens anymore Blocked termination hood, crushed screen, or nesting debris
- Dryer shuts off partway through and won't restart until it cools Thermal cutoff tripping on high heat from poor exhaust
Safe things to check first
Worth a look before you call — sometimes it saves you the visit.
- 1Pull the dryer out a foot and look at the flexible hose behind it for kinks, crushing, or a joint that's come loose.
- 2Step outside while the dryer runs and hold a hand at the vent hood to feel whether air is really pushing out.
- 3Clean the lint screen, then hold it under running water and see if the water beads up from dryer sheet residue.
- 4Look at the vent hood for a nest, a stuck damper, or a screen someone added that lint keeps grabbing.

After the visit, in their words
“They confirmed the appointment by text and the tech introduced himself by name at the door.”
Sam T.Springfield, IL“Freezer frost was an inch thick. He fixed the heater, explained the airflow, and the frost never came back.”
Ellen D.South Bend, IN“Honest about what they could not fix, which made me believe everything else they said.”
Marcus L.Portsmouth, VADryer Vent Cleaning & Repair — quick answers
How often should a dryer vent be cleaned?
Once a year suits most households. Bigger families, long duct runs, or pet hair in the mix push that shorter. If drying time has crept up over a season, that's your signal, no matter what the calendar says.
Can I just use a brush kit from the hardware store?
On a short, straight run to an exterior wall, sometimes. Longer runs with elbows pack lint where a consumer brush won't reach, and a rod can separate a joint inside the wall without you ever knowing.
Is flexible foil hose okay behind the dryer?
Most codes call for rigid or semi-rigid metal transition duct, kept short. Thin foil and plastic accordion hose crush behind the machine and hold lint in every ridge. We swap those out when we find them.
My vent goes up through the roof. Does that matter?
It matters. Vertical runs fight gravity, so lint settles back down toward the dryer. Roof caps collect nests too. Those runs need cleaning from both ends, plus a look at the cap itself.
Why is the laundry room so humid?
Usually a duct that came apart inside a wall, crawlspace, or ceiling. All that moisture goes into the house instead of outside. In our climate that shows up as damp drywall, musty smell, or mildew on nearby baseboards.
Can a clogged vent damage the dryer itself?
Yes. Trapped heat stresses the thermostat, thermal fuse, heating element, and drum bearings. Plenty of no-heat calls trace back to a fuse that blew because the exhaust was blocked. Clearing the duct is part of fixing the machine.
How it works
- Step 1
Tell us the symptom
Ring us or fill in the form, then describe the noise, the smell, or the puddle. Brand and rough age help too. Those small details narrow down the part before anyone drives to your door.
- Step 2
We set a window
You get a visit window that fits your day, not ours, and we text when the van is close. Older shotgun houses have tight halls. Tell us where the machine sits.
- Step 3
Diagnose and repair
Our tech tests the machine, shows you what failed, and explains the fix in plain words. Common parts ride in the van. If something has to be ordered, we schedule the return trip before we leave.

Why homeowners call us
- Hard water is our daily workLimestone water scales heating elements and clogs dishwasher jets, and it crusts up valves until they stick. We see it every week here. So we look past the error code to the mineral buildup behind it, then tell you how to slow the next round down.
- River-valley damp changes thingsHumidity in this valley rusts dryer housings and sours washer gaskets, and it stalls condensate drains. Basement laundry rooms have it worst. We check venting and drainage on every laundry call, because a dry machine stays fixed longer.
- Independent, all major brandsWe work on refrigerators, ranges, ovens, dishwashers, washers, and dryers from every major maker. No brand pays us, and no brand tells us what to say. When we talk about repairing versus replacing, that advice is ours alone.
- Old houses, careful handsShotgun homes and pre-war kitchens come with narrow doorways, soft floors, and odd wiring. We pad thresholds and protect trim, and heavy units move slowly. When we leave, the only change in your house should be a working appliance.
- All major brands, gas & electricIndependent service on Whirlpool, LG, Samsung, GE, Maytag, Bosch, KitchenAid and the rest.
- Straight answersIf it isn't worth repairing, we'll say so, often right on the phone.
